Is there a Doctor in the house?

WWW

Sorry, I'm not sure if this should be here or Devil in the Details. Smiley

What it says on the tin! This probably goes back to almost a year ago really (when I started doing this).

Whenever I try to convert 3t2 everything is smooth until I use CMar's Meshing Toolkit, and the bone assignments never work. I've re-installed several times (I have the up-to-date version) and changed settings and have even asked CMarNYC (creator), and he had the same problem with my meshes I have (so maybe it's my mesh's fault?), but to no advantage. Here's an example of the problem (this happens with everything though):

On the left is the reference mesh, and on the right is the converted Sims 3 mesh after using CMar's Meshing Toolkit for bone assigning. It's always blotchy, and when I see other people's results with it they're so smooth. And it messes up the bones in-game too. What am I doing wrong, and how can I fix this? I'm not experienced enough in bone assigning to assign all of it by hand, but I'm sure I could learn better. Interpolation is always checked, and I'm using the highest quality GEOM for the Sims 3 Mesh. Let me know if I should include anymore information.

P.S, Files of the pictured dress if you need for testing

It always does that for me too, I never figure out what i was doing wrong so I usually end up smooth the bone assignment by hand afterwards.

Oh, I'm sorry! Good to know I'm not alone, though, I suppose.

Are there any tips you have for doing that easier, or do you think it just takes practise to make it not really wonky when you put it in-game? Every time I've tried to do that it just really failed, and borked really bad in game.

Mine have worked decently enough despite the blotches and I usually run the outfit by it self through CMar's tool again after getting rid of the unnecessary bits and fitting the it to the sim body.

I haven't had glaring glitches but I only fix the bones assignments slightly by little bits at a time, save, testing, fix a few bits more save a new one, test again...

This is really vexing, because mine doesn't do that so I can't replicate the issue to help you out Sad

This is what it looks like after I run it through Cmar's toolkit:

The settings are still the same, and I'm using the same mesh, so I'm not sure what mine's doing differently from yours; I can upload this file if you like to work with this one?

Thanks for taking a look, SerenityFall! If you didn't mind uploading it that would be great! But you don't have to. Smiley I'm just trying to get to the bottom of why this is happening so I can prevent it in the future.

So I know it has been a month and all but just now I re-downloaded the mesh tool kit ran it and it worked perfectly, I have no idea why.. I even try it out with meshes that i converted before that appear all blotchy and now they are smooth. As far as I know nothing has change on my computer recently except that I re-installed a few of microsoft frameworks and the xna framework for some other software to run.

Was it an updated version, or did you have to un-install the version you had to download again? Confused

You know it comes in a zip that you just unzip and you can use right away, i just erase my old folder and downloaded again from ModtheSims.

And if you mean the mircrosoft framework I repair the the install of the and the xna framework i downloaded the latest and installed because i didn't have it before, it was to get some other program to work but is all can thing that change in my computer from the last time I use the MeshToolKit

My framework is up to date, tried re-installing but still no luck. Sad What other updates did you do? I'll try almost anything! :'(

As far as I know that was the only thing, that and installing the xna framework to get xna lara and blender to play nice so i could check some meshes. I'm really not sure why it works now because neither thing should have any effect on the toolkit.
